NEUTERING
OBJECTIVES

Prevents production of unwanted puppies and kittens.

Good homes are difficult to find.

MALE ANIMALS

Prevents over activity sexually to other animals and in the case of the dog, to humans

Prevents roaming in search of females

Assists in calming boisterous animals

Removes tom cat smell.

enables mixing sexes in same house.

Prevents prostatic problems and some other tumours

FEMALE ANIMALS

Prevents unwanted pregnancy.

Prevents uterine infections andfalse pregnancies.

Reduces the incidence of mammary tumours.

Avoids unwanted suitors

Amidline incision should be used on all female animals. Animals are normally in the clinic for one day and no special aftercare is required.

All sutures should be placed under the skinand do not need removal.

PREFERRED TIMES OF NEUTERING

BITCHES : At 6 months of age, or one month after a season is finished.

DOGS : From 10 months

QUEEN CATS : From 5 months.

TOM CATS : From 8 months.
